VCK190 Quickstart
This guide provides some quick instructions on how to setup the EVAL-ADRV9026/ADRV9029 on:
Instructions on how to build the ZynqMP / MPSoC / Versal ACAP Linux kernel and devicetrees from source can be found here:
Required Software
SD Card 16GB imaged with Kuiper Linux (see SD Card flashing)
Since the Versal support is not part of the latest release you must update the BOOT partition of the SDCARD with the latest built files from main branches that can be downloaded from here:
Boot files
A UART terminal (Putty/Tera Term/Minicom, etc.), Baud rate 115200 (8N1).
System controller image
Required Hardware
AMD Xilinx VCK190 Rev A board
EVAL-ADRV9026/ADRV9029 FMC board.
USB type-C cable
Ethernet cables
Optionally USB keyboard mouse and a Display Port compatible monitor
Testing
Connect the EVAL-ADRV9026/ADRV9029 FMC board to the FPGA carrier FMC+ FMCP1 socket.
Connect USB UART J207 (Type-C USB) to your host PC.
Insert Versal SD card into socket J302.
Insert System Controller SD card into socket J206.
Configure ACAP for SD BOOT (mode SW1[4:1] switch in the position OFF,OFF,OFF,ON as seen in the below picture).
Configure System Controller for SD BOOT (mode SW11[4:1] switch in the position OFF,OFF,OFF,ON as seen in the below picture).
Connect an Ethernet cable to J307 and also to SYSCTL Ethernet port to access Board Evaluation & Management Tool (BEAM).
Turn on the power switch on the FPGA board.
Observe kernel and serial console messages on your terminal, both the ACAP UART interface and the System controller. (use the first ttyUSB or COM port registered for the ACAP UART interface, and try the other 2 to find the one for System Controller)
On the System Controller console, a BEAM Tool Web Address should be assigned. Go to this web address to set VADJ_FMC to 1.5V.
To change VADJ_FMC On BEAM, click ‘Test The Board’>’Board Settings’>’FMC’. Then on ‘Set VADJ_FMC’, select 1.5V and click ‘Set’.
On the ACAP UART interface console, reboot the system. After reboot, adrv9026 devices should be present.
Note
Versal based carriers (vck190) might not boot with released image.
The problem appears because some revisions of VCK190 or VPK may have the date/time set randomly or in 64bit format. To make them boot, it is enough to overwrite the date, following next steps:
when booting the board, hit any key to go into u-boot menu
type mw F12A0000 6613DE3D (this value is hexa of the date from Unix Converter webpage)
continue booting
All the products described on this page include ESD (electrostatic discharge) sensitive devices. Electrostatic charges as high as 4000V readily accumulate on the human body or test equipment and can discharge without detection. Although the boards feature ESD protection circuitry, permanent damage may occur on devices subjected to high-energy electrostatic discharges. Therefore, proper ESD precautions are recommended to avoid performance degradation or loss of functionality. This includes removing static charge on external equipment, cables, or antennas before connecting to the device.
ACAP SDcard boot files
The files that need to be present on the sdcard BOOT partition are:
BOOT.BIN
Image
system.dtb
boot.scr
Copy the BOOT.BIN, boot.scr and system.dtb from the versal-vck190-reva-ad9026 directory. Copy the Image from the versal-common directory.
Setting up UART
When setting up the UART make sure you connect to the ACAP UART interface and not the System controller.

IIO Oscilloscope Remote
Please see also IIO Oscilloscope.
The IIO Oscilloscope application can be used to connect to another platform that has a connected device in order to configure the device and read data from it.
Build and start osc
on a network enabled Linux host.
Once the application is launched go to Settings > Connect and enter the IP address of the target in the pop-up window.
Important
Even thought this is Linux, this is a persistent file systems. Care should
be taken not to corrupt the file system – please shut down things, don’t
just turn off the power switch. Depending on your monitor, the standard
power off could be hiding. You can do this from the terminal as well with
sudo shutdown -h now
